📷 Importing Results
How do I import my lab results?
Open the Import tab and choose your source: camera, photo library, or PDF. Point your camera at the results page (or select a saved photo or PDF), and Serum's AI will extract every value automatically. You'll see a review screen to confirm or edit before anything is saved.
Which labs and formats does Serum support?
Serum works with printed lab reports, digital PDFs, and photos from any lab — including Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp, private draw services, and your doctor's in-office printout. As long as the values and units are legible, Serum can read it.
How accurate is the import?
Very accurate for standard English-language reports with clear text. Before anything is saved, you'll always see a review screen where you can verify values, fix units, or remove any result that wasn't parsed correctly. You're always in control of what gets saved.
How many imports can I do?
Free accounts include 3 imports per month. Serum Premium gives you unlimited imports. Your monthly count resets at the start of each calendar month.
Can I add results manually without importing?
Yes. From the Dashboard, tap the + button to create a new biomarker, then tap "Add Result" to enter a value manually. Manual entries are not counted against your monthly import limit.
🔒 Privacy & Data
Where is my data stored?
Your data lives entirely on your device. Serum does not have a server or user account system — your health data never leaves your iPhone. If you have iCloud Backup enabled in iOS Settings, your Serum data is included in that backup (encrypted by Apple, not accessible to us).
Does Serum send my lab results to any server?
When you import a photo or PDF, the OCR text is sent to a secure parser to extract the values — but only the raw text, never images, and never stored. On devices with Apple Intelligence enabled (iOS 18.2+), parsing happens entirely on-device with no network request at all. Once results are extracted and reviewed, everything stays local.
Does Serum collect analytics or track usage?
Serum collects minimal, anonymised analytics to help improve the app (things like crash reports and feature usage counts). No health data, biomarker values, or personally identifiable information is ever included in analytics.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. If you have iCloud Backup enabled, your data may be restored if you reinstall and restore from backup. We strongly recommend exporting your data as a CSV before deleting (Settings → Data → Export).
Can I export my data?
Yes. Go to Settings → Data → Export to download a CSV of all your biomarker history. You can open this in any spreadsheet app, share it with a healthcare provider, or keep it as a personal backup. PDF export for sharing with your doctor is available from the biomarker detail view.
💳 Subscription & Pricing
What's included in the free plan?
The free plan includes:
  • Up to 5 biomarkers
  • 3 photo/PDF imports per month
  • Unlimited manual entries
  • Trend charts and health scores
  • Doctor-ready PDF export
It's a genuine free tier — no trial period, no credit card required.
What does Serum Premium include?
Premium unlocks:
  • Up to 1,000 biomarkers
  • Unlimited imports every month
  • CSV data export
Premium is available as a monthly ($4.99/mo) or annual ($34.99/yr) subscription, managed through your Apple ID.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Serum Premium is managed through the App Store. To cancel, go to iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Serum. You can also tap "Manage Subscription" inside Serum's Settings screen. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Premium access until the end of the current billing period.
I bought Premium before — how do I restore it on a new device?
Open Serum, go to Settings, and tap "Restore Purchases." As long as you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase, Premium will be restored at no extra charge.
📱 App Features
Does Serum integrate with Apple Health?
Serum has limited Apple Health integration today, with deeper sync on the roadmap. Currently, you can view your Apple Health data (like glucose, heart rate, and blood pressure) alongside your lab results in the timeline. We're expanding this as the app grows.
Can I set up multiple profiles (e.g. for a family member)?
Serum is currently a single-profile app. Multiple profile support is something we hear frequently and plan to add in a future update.
What are the protocol templates?
Protocol templates are one-tap bundles of the most relevant biomarkers for a specific health focus:
  • TRT / Hormones — Testosterone, E2, Hematocrit, PSA, SHBG, LH, FSH
  • Metabolic Health — Glucose, HbA1c, Insulin, Triglycerides, uric acid
  • Longevity — ApoB, Lp(a), IGF-1, HbA1c, CRP, Homocysteine
  • GLP-1 & Weight — Glucose, Triglycerides, LDL, CRP, Cortisol
  • Thyroid — TSH, Free T3, Free T4, TPO antibodies
  • Athlete Performance — Ferritin, Cortisol, Testosterone, CBC, Vitamin D
Select a template and the relevant biomarkers are created for you instantly.
Does Serum provide health or medical advice?
No. Serum is an informational tool — it helps you track and understand your own lab results, not diagnose or treat anything. Reference ranges and scores are based on peer-reviewed clinical literature, but they are not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare provider. Always discuss your results with your doctor.
Is Serum available on Android or the web?
Serum is currently iOS only. An Android version is not planned at this time. Because your data is stored locally on your device, there is no web app — this is by design, to protect your privacy.
What iOS version does Serum require?
Serum requires iOS 17.0 or later. For fully on-device AI import (no network request during parsing), iOS 18.2 with Apple Intelligence enabled is needed.
